Perfection

Author’s Note: This is the first poem I ever wrote on my own, aside from school projects. It’s from 2006 or 2007. I feel like it’s super corny, but I decided not to touch it, so my progress over the years becomes more apparent.

I wish I were a phoenix,
Able to fly from problems I can’t solve,
Privileged with rebirth and no remorse,
With tears of healing for when the pain is unbearable.
How I wish I were a phoenix,
Soaring high above the clouds,
Among glaring sun, twinkling star, and paling moon
With nothing but me and my solitude.
