The Disease Does Not Discriminate

Author’s Note: The “disease” is not referring to COVID-19. It’s referring to the virus in the video game The Last of Us.

In a post-apocalyptic world,
Will our love be accepted?
Your skin contrasted against mine

When society breaks down,
Will the stereotypes and stigmas
Die along with it?
Our breasts pressed against each other

Will we be taught how to survive,
Rather than how to hate?
A shaded kiss with no consequence

A new kind of love –
One that has always
Grown beneath the pavement,
But can now blossom anew

Undiscriminating, unrestrained.

Just like the very virus
That tore this world apart.
