Dreaming In Abundance

Author’s Note: This is one of my earlier poems from 2007 or 2008. I feel like it’s super cringey, but you can see how I was becoming better at descriptive imagery. It doesn’t really have a deep meaning; I was just playing around with different colors and some related images. I really like rainbows.

Red heart beating in my chest,
Keep me alive with your gentle breathe,
And steady my emotion.

Orange butterfly fluttering in the field,
Bring me a flower’s nectar,
And tickle me with your antennae.

Yellow bird singing in the trees,
Whistle me a sad song,
And I’ll soar to its plaintive tune.

Forever twisting rainbow,
Wrap your colors around me,
And take me away to a world with no gray.

Green leaf quivering on the vine,
Let the morning dew drip into my palm,
And I’ll drink as the sun rises.

Blue star of the night,
Bring a twinkle to my eye,
And dance happily in the heavens.

Purple sunset painted by Gaia,
Light up my soul,
And bring me peace.

Forever twisting rainbow,
Wrap your colors around me,
And take me far away to a world with no gray.

Pink balloon floating on the breeze,
Rise high into the sky,
And I’ll watch as you disappear into the unknown.

Brown soil of the earth,
Keep my hope alive with your nourishment,
And I will grow as the other plants die.

White rabbit burrowing in the fields,
Take my troubles with you underground,
And stash them there for safe keeping.

Black cat prowling in the grass,
Teach me of your stealth,
And help me avoid my enemies.

Forever twisting rainbow,
Wrap your colors around me,
And take me far, far away to a world with no gray.

Gray cloud looming overhead,
Rain down upon my body,
And keep my hope from soaring too high.
