This poem has a pretty basic meaning. I wrote it for Imbolc, a Wiccan holiday that celebrates the first signs of Spring. I remember walking through a forest path at my undergraduate school around the time of Imbolc (February) and seeing frost on the trees. Yet, there were telltale signs of Spring everywhere, like small buds. The poem re-accounts my walk as well all of the things I saw and felt at the time.
The title of the poem has a double meaning. Brighid is the Celtic goddess of the Fire and Hearth, and Imbolc is held in her honor. The “Path” could refer to the physical path I was walking on because it showed many signs of Imbolc and Spring. Alternatively, the “Path” could refer to my decision to follow Wicca.
